Van Junior/Senior High School College Tour of the University of Charleston
Mar 27 @ 8:30 am – 2:40 pm

Seniors at Van Junior/Senior High School will travel to Charleston, WV, to tour the University of Charleston. Students will hear from admissions staff and be able to ask questions about the university and get a feel of what campus life is like.

Admitted Student Reception – Concord University

An opportunity for students and families to interact with Concord staff and gain knowledge about the processes that follow admission to the university. All students who attend will receive a one time non-renewable $250.00 Book Scholarship. Students can RSVP with the Office of Admissions for these programs.

Burch Middle School College Tour of Marshall University
Mar 30 @ 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Seventh graders at Burch Middle School will travel to Huntington, WV, to receive a tour of Marshall University. Students will be led around campus and will be able to ask university staff questions about college.

Lenore K-8 College Tour of Southern WV Community and Technical College
Mar 30 @ 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Seventh grade students at Lenore K-8 will take a tour of the Williamson Campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Students will observe a college class to get a feel of what college is like from a student’s perspective.

James Rumsey Technical Institute Career Fair
Apr 2 @ 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

On April 2nd, James Rumsey Technical Institute will host its second annual job/career fair. The fair will allow the students the opportunity to meet employers and college representatives in order to explore their options upon graduation. The event will begin at 8:00AM and end at 2:00PM and will be open to the public between 10:00AM and 2:00PM. Students will attend during their normal school day.

CFWV will have a staffed informational exhibit at the career fair. /// Appropriate for: high school students, 12th graders, adult learners, veterans, general public, Other (please specify): Post-secondary students/// Registration information: Open to general public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gilbert Middle School College Tour of Concord University
Apr 2 @ 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Seventh grade students at Gilbert Middle School will travel to Athens, WV, to tour Concord University. Students will hear from admissions staff about the admissions process and program offerings.  Students will experience college life and will be able to ask the questions they may have regarding life on campus.

Sherman High School FAFSA Workshop
Apr 2 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Students and parents will gain knowledge of state-level and federal financial aid requirements and deadlines.  Students will also receive one-on-one assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to ensure forms are submitted in time for the WV Higher Education Grant deadline.  Judy Kee Smith, Statewide Coordinator of Financial Aid and Outreach Services at the WV Higher Education Policy Commission, will provide an overview and answer questions to assist students and families in completing their FAFSA form.
