Nominations accepted through March for 2026 Higher Education Action and Impact Awards

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission is accepting nominations for the 2026 Higher Education Action and Impact Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations that are making a meaningful difference in postsecondary access, student success, and college and career readiness across the state.

The nomination period closes March 31.

The annual awards celebrate outstanding leadership, innovation, and measurable impact in education. From K-12 schools to higher education institutions and community partners, the program honors those who are helping West Virginia students achieve their academic and career goals.

“We continue to be inspired by the educators, leaders, and students who are driving positive change across our state,” said Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker, West Virginia’s Chancellor of Higher Education. “The Higher Education Action and Impact Awards shine a spotlight on those who are expanding opportunities and creating pathways to success for learners at every level.”

The awards program features six categories recognizing excellence across multiple sectors:

  • Dan Crockett Professional Leadership Award
  • Exemplary School Action and Impact Award – Elementary Level
  • Exemplary School Action and Impact Award – Middle School Level
  • Exemplary School Action and Impact Award – High School Level
  • Higher Education Action and Impact Award
  • Student Action and Impact Award

Educators, administrators, colleagues, students, and community members are encouraged to submit nominations for individuals or organizations whose work demonstrates clear, measurable impact. Competitive nominations will include compelling examples of leadership and innovation, supported by qualitative and quantitative evidence such as student outcomes, program data, and testimonials.

Selection Timeline

  • February 1, 2026 – Nomination period opens
  • March 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST – Nomination period closes
  • April 2026 – Selection Committee meets and finalizes awardees; recipients announced
  • July 15–16, 2026 – Award recipients recognized at the annual Student Success Summit

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission encourages nominations from across the state to ensure that the individuals and organizations driving meaningful progress in student success receive the recognition they deserve.
